The first time it happened, I blamed the weather.

This became one of the most important lessons from the project.

A wiring diagram tells you what should be there. A multimeter helps verify what is actually there.

That matters on an older vehicle. Previous owners may have installed stereos, alarms or other accessories. Repairs may have been made. Wiring may have been modified.

I stopped asking, "Which color wire do I connect?" I started asking, "What does this circuit actually do?"

That made the installation much easier to understand.

Then I Remembered the Immobilizer

This almost became my biggest mistake.

Starting an engine involves more than powering the starter. The factory security system still matters. Many Hondas from this era use transponder-based anti-theft systems. Then Came the Moment Every DIY Installer Knows

Everything was connected enough for testing. I deliberately left the dashboard open.

So Was the Honda Accord Push Button Start Upgrade Worth It?

For my car, yes.

But not simply because the Accord was old. It made sense because the car was mechanically healthy and I intended to keep driving it.
